The Bonelli's eagle is a fascinating bird of prey, a symbol of power and elegance in a precarious balance. By regulating small mammal and bird populations, it plays an essential role in maintaining the harmony of its ecosystem.
Today, however, it is in danger. The destruction of its habitat, increasingly frequent human disturbance, the scarcity of its prey and the fragility of its nesting sites are jeopardizing its survival. In France, there are only around fifty breeding pairs left, a worrying figure that puts the species on the brink of extinction.
Faced with this worrying reality, the Ross'Wild endowment fund is committed to working alongside the Parc national des Calanques to preserve Bonelli's eagle, by financing targeted and concrete conservation actions.
Nest preservation
Reinforced protection of Bonelli's eagle nesting sites, particularly sensitive areas, to ensure favorable conditions for breeding pairs.
Ringing and scientific research
Setting up ringing programs and rigorous scientific protocols to collect valuable data on Bonelli's eagle behavior, refine conservation strategies and optimize management of its natural habitats.
Reducing human impacts
Implementation of targeted actions to limit human disturbance in sensitive areas, in order to offer the eagle a calm and secure environment, particularly during the breeding season.
