The animal

The orca

In the deep, cold waters of the Atlantic, the orca, a majestic ocean predator, plays an essential role in the fragile balance of marine ecosystems. A veritable regulator of fish populations and other marine species, it watches over the food chain with formidable precision. But today, this giant of the seas is in danger. Increasing ocean pollution, the degradation of its natural habitat, underwater noise and the rarefaction of its prey are seriously threatening its survival. With fewer than fifty individuals recorded in the Bay of Biscay, the future of the orca in this region appears more uncertain than ever.

Faced with this environmental challenge, the Ross'Wild fund is providing financial support for targeted preservation actions, in partnership with the Arcachon-based association One Ocean, to reinforce initiatives to raise awareness, research and protect the orca.

Species awareness

Species awareness

Broadcast of a documentary dedicated to the killer whale to raise public awareness of its ecological role, accompanied by the launch of the Ananta application. This platform informs and engages citizens nationwide in actions to protect the orca.
Cleaning operations

Cleaning operations

Regular litter picks along the Atlantic coastline to reduce marine pollution affecting killer whale habitat, while raising awareness of the need to preserve marine ecosystems.
Scientific studies

Scientific studies

Collaboration with European researchers to carry out in-depth studies of killer whale behavior and conduct regular censuses, with the aim of improving knowledge of this species and guiding conservation strategies.
